Makeup Screen Test

Its a good idea before you start shooting to see your characters / makeup / costumes / effects on camera. What looks amazing to the eye can be completely missed by a cameras sensor,  colours and depth will also be perceived in a different way.

 You can see in the video how the 'pale' foundation colour glows white when filmed  under lighting, whereas the dark purple shadows make Ross face glow blue in natural light.

For the shoot we are going to stick to browns and greens, as we are filming both by a window and in a corridor, we don't want our zombies changing colour!

For a more natural effect we are going to 'speckle' the base skin tone using yellows and a little blue. For this we need a couple of tube makeups so we

can 'flick' them on with a brush.

Whilst the stipple sponge is great close up, you cant see the blown veins around ross eyes, so we may also use the brush technique for blood spatter.

The torn latex skin works well, but the edges need better feathering - a thicker coat of latex will allow this.

The blood was also good (and quite tasty!) but needs some form of chopped oats to add chewed flesh texture. 

All in all a good test, we know what we need to change and how we want the shots to look!
